Finding The Weigh Turns the Big 3-0

birthday image Before turning the big 3-0 in December, I took a little trip to a fitness camp called Live in Fitness, located in South Carolina on Hilton Head Island — I figured a little “me time” was the perfect present to myself.
Before I dig in to why I’m writing this post, let me first say that I can’t recommend this place more! If you’re looking for a jumpstart to your weight loss, need a little push over a plateau or even just want to press the restart button on life, this is a great place to visit.

Prior to my trip to L.I.F.E I was focused on a low carb diet, as you can see in my recipes here. However, after my two weeks there, I realized that I wanted a more “normal” diet — yes, you lose weight easily on low carb but, for me, it’s hard to stick with long term. For those of you that don’t have that issue, go for it! So, going forward, I will be following the eating program that was given to me at L.I.F.E, which is a diet program that is 25g carbs: 25g protein: 11g fat. The average ratio for women is 21g carbs: 21g protein: 9g fat — so, you could abide by this ratio if you aren’t working out too much or only have a few pounds to lose. You can also adjust the ratio based on your hunger. For example, if you’re starving on the 21:21:9 ratio, try upping your protein just a bit. Then if that doesn’t do the trick, then up to the 25:25:11.

I’m sharing this with you because I will be beginning to incorporate recipes to the site that are low calorie but not super low carb, depending on what you consider to be low carb. For you low carbers out there, don’t fret! I’ll continue to add low carb recipes too! The site will just have a little bit of everything for everyone now =)
